Try to find a dollar amount you feel comfortable with and stick to it. Before couponing, I did not have any budget. Now I spend between $30 and $65 per week for my grocery and drugstore purchases.
Always buy at least 2 papers. If I find an awesome sale when it is BOGO, I want to use 2 coupons to get the maximum savings.
The first thing everyone does is clip the coupons they think they will use and throw out the rest of the insert. I can't tell you how many deals I get by doing this other method which is very simple. Now my shopping list is done on Monday for the following weeks ad complete with all the coupon match-ups for the weeks ad.
Learn what stores have their own coupons that you can use with manufacturer coupons to maximize your savings.
BOGOF sales are great to pair with coupons. When you do this, you will be buying that item at the absolute lowest price. When you start building your stockpile, you won't have to buy those items again at "retail".
Shop with a list and stick to it.
Keep your stockpile organized so you know what you have in stock. When you see a good deal, buy a few extra and donate it to a family, organization or church.
Use the drugstores to buy items that your family uses everyday using their reward systems. The savings are unbelievable! Once you start rolling, you will be putting very little out-of-pocket and coming home with shampoo, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste, dental floss, razors, etc. and never have to go to Walmart again!
When people tell me they don't have time to coupon, then they don't know how to use this method to their advantage. Learn this method to maximize your savings and have fun doing it!
