I thought I would spend a minute on competitor coupons. As everyone knows, Save-A-Lot offers $5/$25 coupons in their newspaper ads and also on FB. I asked about a month ago and was told they did not take them at Publix.
I just found out today that the Vilano Beach store and the Cobblestone store DO take them as a competitor! I also found out that the SR 16 store DOES NOT take them at this time. That makes my decision easy for me. I will shop at the stores that accept the coupon.
Has anyone had any experiences with Moultrie or the Beach? I didn't get a chance to call them today.

GOOD PRICE ON GRAPES
Like many of you, I am not a fan of Save-A-Lot. That store just doesn't do anything for me. But this week I will be making a visit there just to buy grapes!
Grapes have been $2.79 a lb., sometimes a little less. I just won't pay that. I'll eat another fruit and just wait patiently until they come down in price. Well, this is the week!
Beginning today, Wednesday thru next Tuesday, pick up grapes for $1.49 lb. I would prefer $.99 lb. like we see in the summer but I will be happy to be adding grapes to my lunchbox!!
I'll probably be also picking up some boring iceburg lettuce for $1.00 because it is the only kind of lettuce my husband will eat. There is no nutritional value in it at all! I also like the cherry tomatoes for $1.00 because they are kind of like grapes...just pop them in your mouth.
Be careful of the Rib Eye Steak at $4.99 lb. Ask if it is select grade, which I am sure it is. That grade of meat just isn't as tasty as choice.

SAVE-A-LOT
I told you earlier Save-A-Lot opened today so I decided to check it out after my awesome Publix run. Going into Save-A-Lot after Publix might not be that great of an idea. It was swarming with people and, of course, you don't get any bags to put your stuff in when you check out. The lines we wrapping into the aisles. I think some of the same people you see at Walmart were checking out Save-A-Lot!
The first two items I was looking for, celery and sweet potatoes, were sold out. Strike number one. The next thing was the chicken legs. I found them in the meat case frozen solid in one 10-lb. package. Strike number 2.
Will I try to go there again when I can better assess their prices...probably not. I did see chocolate chips on an endcap for $1.99 a bag. That is a good price but not as good of a price with a Publix BOGO and coupons. Using the same $.50/1 coupon, I paid $1.10 per package versus $1.49 if you bought it at Save-A-Lot with the same coupon. There might be certain items that you would wander in and get if it is something that doesn't go on sale on a regular basis at Publix.
Jessica commented that boneless, skinless chicken breasts were $1.69 lb. That is an awesome price and one we never see at any store. I didn't look to see if they had any. Before I ran out there again, I would call to see if they had the items I wanted in stock.
Let me know what you think of Save-A-Lot!

SAVE-A-LOT OPENS 11/15/12
Save-A-Lot grocery store is finally opening! I have never been in one and I am excited to check it out.
I got the ad in the mail and I only plan on purchasing a few items. Sweet potatoes are $.29 per lb. That is an awesome price for these. I always stock up this time of year and we ear a lot of sweet potatoes!
The chicken leg quarters are $.49 per lb. sold in 10 lb. bags. I haven't seen this price since Food Lion was here. They go on sale at Publix for $.99 lb. so you will be saving 50%!
I don't imagine I will be doing much at Save-A-Lot but it will be fun to go cherry-pick the deals!
Also, if you go to their FB page, you can print a coupon for $5 off $25.
Do you think Publix will start accepting them as a competitor?
