MY DAUGHTERS WALMART SHOPPING TRIP

My daughter decided to go to Walmart and test out their new coupon policy. Before beginning her adventure at Walmart, she went up to the customer service desk with the Publix flyer in hand and asked if they matched the BOGO sales from the ad. The answer was a big "YES" so she mentally noted the CSM's name to use at the register if she had any problems.

She didn't find many of the items because they were not available like the Mrs. T's Pierogis or they were not an exact match. But she did find several items and was able to get the Walmart price and then BOGO on top of that. She was in the store for 1 1/2 hours doing all of this. When she got to the register she saved those items for last and told the cashier what she was doing. Surprisingly the cashier knew she could do the BOGO match and had to scan each item at half price. This is where it gets a little scary for me! Have you seen some of the cashiers at Walmart? Be prepared for some of them may be a little slower in the math department! Let's say you have an item for $2.00 BOGO. Simple...ring up two $1 sales. But now your next item is $3.69 BOGO. This is where is starts to get complicated! They have to do the math in their head (because you know they don't supply calculators at the register) and come up with $1.84 for one transaction and $1.85 for the next.

My advice to you is if you do this MAKE SURE you know the prices of everything up front so when they input it into the register you know that the math is done correctly!! One mistake and your Walmart shopping trip that was supposed to save you money now wasn't worth your time! Can this be worth your time? That is your call. If you need some items at Walmart anyways, it may be worth a try to see what happens. I know the two items I always pick up at Walmart when I am there are Farmers Ham from the deli (be prepared to wait because the deli staff move in slow motion) and Good Seasons Dressing. The Farmers Ham is just like it is cut off the bone from a ham and it is my favorite and it is just over $5 a lb. The Good Seasons never goes on sale and is a little cheaper at Walmart.

**This shopping trip was done at the Palm Coast Walmart. YMMV at our store!!!
