I also found some great wall hangings marked down to $4.48 each but decided not to get those after I found these cute sandles on sale for $11.79 each! There were also many things marked down in the ladies department 70% off.

This was at the Ponte Vedra Target location.

OFF TO A MUCH NEEDED MINI VACATION CAMPING TRIP

I will not be posting for the next week as myself and my husband will be off on a camping trip to Ft. DeSoto State Park in St. Petersburg. After spending the last four days with my mother who had a stroke last week, I am looking forward to getting away and floating on my raft in the ocean! She has been getting better every day but prayers are needed! Thank you everyone in advance!

CVS DEAL

I hope everyone did the Hawaiian Tropic Lip Balm deal. Now head back to CVS and do the following deal!

Lumene 10pc Sensitive Touch Makeup Remover Wipes -$3.19 each
Use $4/1 Lumene Product from 6/19 SS (Expires 8/15)
=FREE!

I bought two of them using two $4 coupons and also snagged a mascara priced at 75% off to take care of the overage. When I got to the register she told me I owed $2 and change. When I looked at the receipt, the register adjusted down the coupon so that I would not get overage! So in the end I had to pay for the mascara. It was a good deal anyways and I just added it to my box of tweezers, files, and mascara!

Thanks to Margart for telling me about this deal!

CVS

I went into CVS this morning before work. I scooped up two of the Hawaiian Tropic Lip Balm at $2.99 each. I had a $5.99 ECB. My total OOP was $.09 and I got back a $10 ECB!! That was a pretty quick way to make $4 plus get the lip balm. I walked back over to the shelf and picked up two more. This time I used my other card and my $5 ECB that the magic coupon machine gave me a few days ago. I paid $.97 and got back $10. For a mere $1.06 I was able to walk out with 4 lip balm and $20 in ECB's to roll next week.

KNOW ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GREAT JEEP?

No, this doesn't have anything to do with coupons! You don't even need a coupon to buy this!! We are selling our 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport with 106,000 miles on it. It has been a great, fun vehicle but we are forced to sell to buy a car for our daughter to go to college in. It has a 6 cyl, 4 liter, 5-speed, cruise control, running boards, AM/FM CD player, cream color with tan top. We purchased a new soft top about 2 years ago. The interior is in great condition and all around is an awesome vehicle. If you are looking for a dependable FUN car, contact me to see it! You will not be disappointed.

$7499
KBB price is $8,020

Oil Change, wheel alignment and new struts done in the last month!
I just checked Publix and our price for the Prell shampoo is $2.49. Pay just $.49 each when you watch the video HERE. The coupon is in PDF form so you are able to print multiples. I bought 4 of them!! This stuff is great for husbands with little or no hair...not that I am implying that my husband falls into that catagory!!

MY CVS TRIP

I knew this was a good week for CVS and luckily I had $10 in ECB's to roll. They expired yesterday but I knew they would take them for one week past expiration. I looked ahead on www.iheartcvs.com to look at the next two weeks ads and did the following scenerio for this week. I bought:

1 Zertec (5 ct)
1 Motrin PM
1 Schick Hydro Razor

When I got to the store I realized I forgot my coupon for the razor. Instead of picking up the few extra things to make up the difference, I just bought the 3 items above and paid $2.40 and got back $13 in ECB's. I asked her if I could come back with the coupon. I stopped back there this morning and they gave me $4 back for the coupon. That was a heck of a deal! I ended up taking those items out of the store PLUS $1.60 cash PLUS $13 in ECB's to roll into next week! Now that was exciting!

PLUS....ON TOP OF THAT I got a $5 ECB when I scanned my second card just for being a Beauty Club Member!!

HOMEMADE CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP

I came across this recipe that I thought was very interesting. If you ever reach for a can of cream of chicken soup and don't have it, here is a recipe to make your own. I can't wait to try it!

HOMEMADE CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP BASE RECIPE

Description:
A flavorful condensed cream of chicken soup base recipe for use in dishes that call for canned creamed soups
Yield:
3 cups (about 2 cans)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups chicken broth*
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon onion powder**
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder***
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt (or less; taste to test)
1/4 teaspoon parsley
dash of paprika
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup flour

Instructions:
1. In medium-sized saucepan, boil chicken broth, 1/2 cup of the milk, and the seasonings for a minute or two (longer if using fresh onions or garlic).
2. In a bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 cup of milk and flour. Add to boiling mixture and continue whisking briskly until mixture boils and thickens.
Additional Notes:
*I use the broth from my oven-roasted chicken. Refrigerate broth and then take fat off the top. If you're using chicken bouillon + water for your broth, you may want to add a little extra seasonings, such as lemon pepper, extra garlic, or seasoned salt, since my broth normally has bits of those in it. You can also add bits of chicken, but if you have good rich chicken broth, you probably won't need any chicken in it.
**Or, diced onions (boil with broth for a few minutes)
***Or, fresh minced garlic (boil with broth for a few minutes)

EXPIRATION DATES - WHAT DO THEY REALLY MEAN?

We all are aware that food items have expiration dates listed on them, but did you know that items like deodorant and body washes have expiration dates on them? Now, the expiration dates for personal care items are guidelines for effectiveness, which is why if you look at most items, they may say, "Best if used by" which refers strictly to quality and not safety which in that case you would see the terms "Use By".

Manufacturer's have different methods for dating their products, some use a Packed On date, while others use Jillian date codes, which is strictly a number. Jan. 15, 2011 may look something like this: 01511 and December 31st 2011 may look like this: 36511. (If there is a letter(s) in this number, that's usually for identification purposes for the manufacturer. It tells them which machine or packer packed the item, if a problem should arise later on.) There are terms like "Born on" dates, most recently being used for beers, "Guaranteed Fresh" is a term mostly used on bakery items. "Sell By" is a term that is referred to for retailers, this is the last date in which an item should be sold, and shouldn't be referred to for an expiration date. "Expiration Date" is commonly used to determine the absolute last day a food should be consumed, and the last day a manufacturer would "guarantee" the item.

Here's a list of commonly stockpiled items with their shelf life. All items listed are for UNopened, UNused products. Once opened, shelf lives vary, depending on storage, usage, and ingredients.

Hope this helps!

$5 BOUNTY PAPER TOWEL COUPON

I am sure most of you read on the blogs about the $5 Bounty Paper Towel Coupon that was being offered on Facebook to the first 5,000 people today. In fact, it is going to be offered every Friday for the month of June. They didn't say what time they were putting it up on the wall so you just had to keep checking back.

Who has that kind of time?? When I sat down to post my trips, I checked FB and it said that it posted it was time to get the coupon 9 minutes ago. SCORE!! I thought I had a shoe-in for a $5 coupon!! The excitment was short-lived when I went to print the coupon and they were all GONE! Come on...9 minutes after posting!! What does that tell you? How many people are into Extreme Couponing and sat by their computer just waiting for them to say "Go"!

It just makes me wonder how many minutes after it went live did they reach 5,000 prints. Well, there is always next week!

MY PUBLIX, WINN DIXIE, FOOD LION TRIPS

I spent the morning today running around doing all kinds of errands and picking up deals and needed items for a graduation party we are having tomorrow for my daughter.

My first trip was Winn Dixie. I usually never go to different stores, but today I had the time and decided to run into each and cherry pick the deals I wanted. First stop...Winn Dixie to get the Tositos Scoops I needed for my party, 3 doz. eggs at a stock up price of $.99 each, Deans Chip Dip (large container) for $1.67, two 2-liter drinks at $1.00 each and 4 Colgate Toothpaste at just $.25 each. The toothpaste deal is a great stock-up price. The coupon states it is for a 4 oz. tube. Make sure you get the tubes on a table in front of the pharmacy that are labeled 33% more for free which makes it a 4 oz. tube.

TOTAL SPENT AT WINN DIXIE $11.99

Next stop...Publix. I picked up the Sargento Cheese, four of them, and paid $.72 each. Not the best price, but I wanted to add to my stock of cheese! Peter Pan Peanut Butter, 4 Olives, 2 Maries Dressing, Cantelope, Cake Mix, 9 Softsoap Hand Soap and 3 Bayer Advanced Aspirin (used RC) and paid $12.02. My total before coupons was $41.27!! I saved a total of 82% using sales and coupons!

Next stop...Food Lion. Gosh I hate that store! I don't know why anyone would want to shop there! The iceburg lettuce at $.99 each, peaches at $.88 lb. and chicken leg quarters for $.69 lb. drew me in. I also ended up buying a couple packages of boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.79 lb., 2 avacados, 2 cream cheese, and the snowflake rolls that were calling my name! I spent $29 there because of the meat.

Would I recommend doing this every week? NO!!! But I had the extra time this morning and just made quick it in and out in each store.

By the end of the weekend I will probably head to Walmart also because they have cherries at $1.99 lb. That is the price you want to buy them at! We LOVE cherries at our house so I will make the dreaded trip to Walmart to get them. I think we had to go there anyway for something else like car floor mats so it doesn't seem so painful!

The good part is I already had most of the things in stock that I needed for the party. I just needed a few things and incorporated it into my weekly shopping trip and paid about $53 for everything!

DIRT CHEAP SUNBLOCK

I found the deal of the century today at where else but the dollar store! I was in the US 1 store next to Staples but I am sure the other location at the beach would have it as well. You might call and check before you go.

Right when you walk in the door there is a bin FULL of Banana Boat Continuous Spray Sunblock! The expiration date on the bottom is anywhere from 2/12 to 4/12. I read once on a website that sunblock is good for at least one year after the expiration date. RUN, don't walk to the Dollar Store to get your Sunblock for the entire season!

CHECK YOUR BINDERS

Check your binders for a MQ Sargento Cheese coupon for $.55 off 2 Sargento Cheese. I don't know where I got these but they stack with the Publix coupon for $1/1 found HERE. You will pay $.72 for a bag of cheese. It's not as good as the time we got it for free but still not a bad price if you need cheese!

Also my daughter called me this morning to say that Walmart had cherries for $1.99 lb. That is the target price you want to pay! If you are headed to Walmart, get some cherries and try to do some price matching with the Publix ad and let me know how you do!!

EXTREME COUPONING - WHAT IS IT?

Extreme couponing. It’s the new catch phrase that’s hitting the television market like MAD. I actually enjoy cutting coupons and finding a good deal, so that is why I started teaching couponing classes. I enjoy teaching others how to save money. Just in case you haven’t heard about extreme couponing, I thought I’d give you a quick rundown!! If you want to take this journey with me, start saving your inserts from your Sunday paper. You need them ALL.

To REALLY get into extreme couponing, you have to be willing to store items for a rainy day. You don’t buy shampoo when you NEED shampoo. You buy it when it’s on sale and you can get it for $.50 and then you stock up. That’s the point. In theory, if you buy shampoo with a coupon, you are doing a good thing. BUT if you buy shampoo with a coupon during a week when it’s buy 1 get 1 free — you are REALLY saving.

Timing is everything. You have to be patient and you have to work a little at getting organized.

Here’s the part that some of you may not be happy with. If you truly want to be successful with extreme couponing, you have to let go of your brand loyalty. I’m not saying you can’t continue to buy your favorite coffee beans or yogurt. If you TRULY LOVE IT – then of COURSE stick with it. HOWEVER, every other product has to now be opened to sales and coupons.

Here’s the thing with extreme couponing – you can’t put all your eggs in one basket. You have to be able to go to a few stores to really see results. I’m not saying I’m going to go to three grocery stores, but I am saying that I will hit up Publix, CVS and Target once a week if I get a big enough bargain on an item my family uses.

Every store has sales that are meant to draw customers in with the hopes that they will purchase other items. Well, that’s for the rest of the world. Don’t get suckered into full priced items just because you happened to be walking around Publix!! Buy what’s on sale and then go home. Everything will eventually be marked down. There’s no point in wasting your money – especially in this economy.

PHEW!! How was that? Not too painful right? Do what you can and save where it’s possible. That’s all I’m saying.

Let’s save together in 2011. That’s my mission. I want to see how much I can save by the end of the year. Again, if you want to play along, start saving those coupons from the newspaper. There are also a ton of sites where you can print coupons... And please check my blog so you can see what I buy each week from Publix.

UPDATE: I received another call from a woman in Boise, Idaho. Heck, I don't even know where Boise is!! She contacted me after she googled extreme couponing and came up with my number. Again, just like Tyrone in New York, I spent time with her on the phone walking her through the process and then told her to attend a class I found in Boise. I am not sure how they are finding me but it sure is kind of neat!!

MY DAUGHTERS WALMART SHOPPING TRIP

My daughter decided to go to Walmart and test out their new coupon policy. Before beginning her adventure at Walmart, she went up to the customer service desk with the Publix flyer in hand and asked if they matched the BOGO sales from the ad. The answer was a big "YES" so she mentally noted the CSM's name to use at the register if she had any problems.

She didn't find many of the items because they were not available like the Mrs. T's Pierogis or they were not an exact match. But she did find several items and was able to get the Walmart price and then BOGO on top of that. She was in the store for 1 1/2 hours doing all of this. When she got to the register she saved those items for last and told the cashier what she was doing. Surprisingly the cashier knew she could do the BOGO match and had to scan each item at half price. This is where it gets a little scary for me! Have you seen some of the cashiers at Walmart? Be prepared for some of them may be a little slower in the math department! Let's say you have an item for $2.00 BOGO. Simple...ring up two $1 sales. But now your next item is $3.69 BOGO. This is where is starts to get complicated! They have to do the math in their head (because you know they don't supply calculators at the register) and come up with $1.84 for one transaction and $1.85 for the next.

My advice to you is if you do this MAKE SURE you know the prices of everything up front so when they input it into the register you know that the math is done correctly!! One mistake and your Walmart shopping trip that was supposed to save you money now wasn't worth your time! Can this be worth your time? That is your call. If you need some items at Walmart anyways, it may be worth a try to see what happens. I know the two items I always pick up at Walmart when I am there are Farmers Ham from the deli (be prepared to wait because the deli staff move in slow motion) and Good Seasons Dressing. The Farmers Ham is just like it is cut off the bone from a ham and it is my favorite and it is just over $5 a lb. The Good Seasons never goes on sale and is a little cheaper at Walmart.

**This shopping trip was done at the Palm Coast Walmart. YMMV at our store!!!

CHEAP CHOCOLATE AT WINN DIXIE

Looking to pick up some cheap Chocolate this week? Head to Winn Dixie and do the following deal:

Hershey’s, Kit Kat, or Reese’s Candy Bars, 1.4 to 2.1 oz, BOGO $1.09 (that’s MUCH better!)
-B1G1 Hershey’s Special Dark Dark Chocolate Bar or Special Dark Dark Chocolate with Almonds Bar, 1.45-1.55 oz – max value $.85 – 05-01-11 SS Insert (exp 6/17/2011)

The coupon will only pay $.85 so you will pay $.13 per bar after coupons! Not a bad deal if you LOVE chocolate.

While you are in there use your $2 Wisk coupons to get Wisk for $1.99 a bottle. My Publix was out so I got a raincheck for 10 bottles. If I can get the ten bottles at WD, I can order more coupons and use my raincheck at Publix to get more bottles at $2 each.

WARNING!! READ THIS BEFORE PRINTING BAYER COUPON

Before you make the same mistake I made, I want to warn you about printing this coupon. Bayer aspirin is on sale for $2.99 this week. There is a $1.50 printable HERE and a 1.75 printable HERE. When you stack this with the $2/1 in the Green Advantage Flyer you get FREE Bayer aspirin with overage.

I always try to save on paper when printing coupons. I put in 1/3 of a sheet of paper and no coupon printed. The $1.50 coupon printed at the BOTTOM of the page and a huge ink hog of an advertisement printed before. I lost one coupon. I don't want you to make the same mistake!

Make sure you grab a few green advantage flyers when you go in the store because I think these will disappear fast!

TRAVEL ON THE CHEAP

Airfare Watchdog is an awesome website for airfare prices. This site tracks airfare and really helps you save. You can sign up for the newsletter, which will alert you when there are low fares.
I also check out Kayak.com a lot to compare airfares.

If you're looking for a hot deal on somewhere to stay in the Caribbean, be sure to check out Cheap Caribbean. If you're up for a spontaneous trip, you may want to check out their last minute deals. They are also offering a promotion where kids get to stay and eat FREE at various resorts! Go HERE to check out the deals.
Overall, I have personally found that they offer the best prices on All-Inclusive trips.

If you like surprises, you can book a hotel through Priceline or Hotwire. While you will not know exactly which hotel you are staying at (until after you book it), you can choose which area you want to stay in and the best part is that you get to choose the price!

You can also choose how upscale (or low-scale!) you want! My sister-in-law uses this all the time, and she loves it!

Did you know that Craigslist has a section that is devoted to Vacation Rentals? Look up the area you want to stay in and then search under the heading "Housing". While I have not personally stayed at a place from Craigslist, I have browsed it many times.
This could be a good option for a vacation on the cheap.

PUBLIX 6/4, SPENT $35.90. SAVED 68%

It's been a while since I have posted a shopping trip. Sometimes I just didn't have time to take the picture. The shopping trips have not been as good since the coupon policy change. On top of that the ads have not been so good in my opinion. This weeks ad was not any better but I did take advantage of a few deals and a few things I needed. They were out of the Bayer aspirin so I will probably head back to the store before the ad ends. This is what I bought:

4 Mrs. T's Pieroggi
6 Muellers Whole Grain Pasta
2 Breakstone Sour Cream
2 Cream Cheese
1 lb. butter
Blueberries
Peaches
Limes
6 Voskos Yogurt
2 Suave Body Wash
Cake Mix
Rye Bread
2 Coffee Mate
Distilled Water
10 X Sugar
Horseradish
2 Wisk Detergent
4 Precise Heat Patch

My cashier did the strangest thing when she was ringing me up. She laid out ALL of my coupons. She would ring up an item and then pick up the corresponding coupon for that item. The good thing was everything was right on and you saw your total going down immediately BUT the bad part was I didn't get to see the total before my coupons. All I know is I sure miss the $5/$25 coupons!

They only had two Wisk left on the shelf so I got a raincheck for them! That is what I was hoping for! Now I can get the others over the next few weeks!

FREE TYLENOL PRECISE CREAM AT PUBLIX

Tylenol Precise Cream is on sale at Publix in the Green Advantage Flyer for $4.49. Use the $5/1 coupon found HERE and get it for FREE PLUS OVERAGE!

Also, Suave Body Wash is on sale for $1.49. Use the BOGO free coupon in the 5/22 RP and get each for $.75. Not a bad deal if you need body wash!

LIBBY'S FRUIT COUPON

Yay!! There’s a new Libby’s Coupon on coupons.com

(I found these with zip 77477 under food)

These Libby’s coupon tend to go super fast, so print it now! I like to keep canned fruit on hand to put in jello for a cool summer salad!

Let's hope a BOGO sale comes up soon!

MY CVS ADVENTURE

I went into CVS today with my Extra Care Buck for $5.54 that was 2 days past expiration. I knew they would take it. They will take an expired ECB for up to one week after expiring. I had every intention of buying Revlon eyeshadow using my $2 MQ's and my ECB's to roll it. When I got in there I found reduced cosmetic items that I could not pass up! They were reduced 75% off and then the $2 coupon came off of it!! So much for the planned scenerio! This is what I bought:

3 Mascara
2 Eyeliner
1 Revlon Concealer (not that I need this he he!!)
2 Dove Candy Bars

I had to throw the candy bars on to bring my total up so I could use the $5.54 ECB's. My total OOP after my ECB's and coupons was $1.14 and I received a $1 ECB back. Not the original plan I intended but I couldn't pass up the mascara and eyeliner. With a girl in the house, I am always hearing she needs one thing or another! Because they were clearance items, I was not able to get the $4 ECB for spending $10...but it was well worth it!!

Check out CVS and their markdown items on cosmetics!

NEW TARGET HOME MAILER

Look in your mailbox today for this booklet. On the back should be a $5 off $50 card. I plan on using mine for all the things I will have to buy when sending my daughter off to college this August. I think I can safely say that I will be spending MORE than $50!!

WALMART DEAL ON BONELESS SKINLESS CHICKEN BREAST

I forgot to post this yesterday! While I was in Walmart yesterday picking up a pizza, I noticed they had boneless skinless chicken breasts priced at $1.88 lb. That is a great deal!

If you want to venture into Walmart, make sure to pick up a few packages to freeze at this price! This is definitely a stock-up price!

WINN DIXIE BOOKLET SPOTTED AT BEACH STORE

I went into the beach Winn Dixie store today and picked up the new booklet with Winn Dixie coupons. The coupon I am most excited about is the $1/2 Ziplock coupons that hopefully paired with a sale and a MQ will get us a good deal!

So head over there and make sure you grab a few for yourself! It is called "Summer Savings for the Season's Essentials".

Also, in today's mail, make sure you look in the Red Plum Circular for a $5 off $50 Publix coupon! Yes! There is another one! I am guessing this one came in this mornings paper because I found it on my counter. I am assuming my husband put it there for me! Another booklet called the Summer Breakfast Sale has a $5 off $30 coupon in it. Is it me or does it seem like they are offering more of these than normal!! Make sure you watch the dates as they won't take these past the expiration date. Looks like we will have a coupon to use for the next 2 weeks!

Also, while you are in there picking up your booklets, hopefully you printed the coupon for Athenos Greek Yogurt and you can do the following deal:

Athenos Greek Plain Yogurt 16 oz, BOGO $3 ($1.50 each)
B1G1 Athenos Greek Yogurt printable
FREE-FREE after Q!
