MY WALGREENS DEAL 5/23/10

This was also done in two transactions, starting with $4.50 RR. My first transaction consisted of 2 Headbands and 1 Colgate Toothpaste. I paid $.84 OOP and got back a $2 and a $3 RR. My second transaction consisted of 2 Listerine Mouthwash, 1 Contact Solution, 1 Tomato Sauce, 1 Newspaper and 1 carmel. I used another $4.50 RR and the $2 and $3 from above and paid $3.09 OOP and got back a $8 RR.

I bought the last Listerine that was generating RR's, so they substituted another. Also, they only had 1 tomato sauce in stock so I had to substitute a carmel. In the confusion, I forgot to give the in-ad Q for $.50 for the tomato sauce. The St. Augustine Record did not have any coupons in it so I had to substitute the Times Union. I should have only paid $1.84 but had no choice to get the Times Union. It still was a good deal for all the above!!

MY CVS DEAL 5/22/10

I bought the body wash in two separate transactions totaling $.98 and $.48 for a total of $1.46 OOP plus got back $8 ECB's!! Gotta love CVS!!!

PUBLIX 5/22/10, SPENT $63.91 SAVED 30%

I must say I gasped a little when I saw my total for this week! I had 2 big packages of toilet paper ($10) and 12 John Freida Shampoo/Conditioner ($12) which brought my total up. My purchases included:

2 Pepperidge Farm Oatmeal Bread
6 Yoplait Yogurt
2 Sorrento Cheese
2 cans black eye peas
2 cans chili beans
6 Crystal Light Peach Tea (my fav!)
Coleslaw dressing
Coleslaw
Green onions
Lg. bag baby carrots
Strawberries
Bananas
Cuban bread
Genoa Salami 1/2 lb.
Deli Ham 3/4 lb.
Deli Turkey Breast 3/4 lb.
4 boxes Brownies
Aussie Conditioner
12 John Frieda Shampoo/Conditioner
2 Hefty Paper Bowls
3 Benefiber Drink boxes
1 pkg. Bakery Bruchetta

I wonder about this total because I had a brand new cashier and I really wasn't paying attention to her scaning the coupons. The Benefiber wouldn't scan because it wasn't programmed into the computer, so she had to call over customer service. I was just listening for the beeps but then realized she didn't know that a competitior coupon had to be put in manually. I think she heard the "beep" and thought it took off the coupon. I should have been watching...I know better!! When the customer service employee had to come over because of more coupons than items, she noticed she wasn't putting in the dollar amount for a competitor coupon. At that point, I don't know how many she missed. Lesson learned.

I have been keeping tract of my totals for the grocery and drugstore for the month. This amount does not include the gas cards I purchased or any rebates I sent in for. My total as of today is $216.13. (This does not include any RR's or ECB's that I have to roll into the following week which are considered cash). That includes all the hefty storage bags, Schick Hydro Gel, Schick Razors. body wash, yogurt, Fusion Snack Mix, all the american cheese, all the boxes of crackers, and tons of low-dose aspirin and shampoo/conditioner that have been added to the stockpile! I know that total is what some of you spend in one week!

Did you happen to notice my three beautiful grandchildren in the picture?? Baby Bryce is on the kitchen table!

WALGREENS, MORE FREE BODY WASH AND LIP GLOSS 5/20/10

I went to Walgreens today and started out with two $5 RR's. I did this in two transactions. Each transaction cost me $1.52 OOP and I got back $4.50 in RR per transaction. It would have cost me $20.36 plus tax per transaction to buy those items! So for $3.04 OOP I got 4 body wash, 4 lip gloss and 2 pkgs Pink Lemonade drink sticks PLUS I received two $4.50 RR's to roll into next weeks deal!!

BOGO MILKSHAKE AT SONIC

Sonic is offering up an awesome, buy one real ice cream milkshake, get one FREE through June 27th. My Sonic is exactly 2.34 miles away from my house. My daughter will love this along with the BOGOF Frappuccino coupon from Barnes & Noble!

COTTONELLE TOILET PAPER DEAL AT PUBLIX

Cottonelle Toilet Paper is on sale this week. Use the $1.50 Q from here and stack with the $1 Q from ALL YOU magazine (or a $.50 Bricks printable) to get a great deal on toilet paper.

My personal list for Publix this week will be very limited. I don't see much at all for me. I will stock up on TP, $.89 Aussie Shampoo. FREE GO-Gurt, brownie mix and maybe a few other things. That is the great thing about stockpiling. When a off week comes (and my off week may be different than yours), you still have plenty of things to pull from that you paid a price you were happy to pay!

PUBLIX 5/16/10, SPENT $20.90, SAVED 73%

I really didn't need anything this week at Publix except bread and some lunchmeat especially since I bought my milk at CVS with a coupon and got $1 ECB. Todays purchases included:

1 Loaf Publix Bakery Bread
2 Pepperidge Farm Bread
4 Ore Ida Frozen Potatoes
6 Dove Deodorant
2 Coles Garlic Bread
8 Ears of Corn
4 Ritz Cracker
4 Yoplait Go-Gurt
Glad Wrap
2 Bakery Bagels
Genoa Salami
2 Yellow Rice

My total for the above was $20.90. The 2 loaves of Pepperidge Farm Bread and the 4 pkgs. of Ore Ida French Fries would total $19.74 alone. The best thing is I got to restock my Ritz Crackers. I actually had to buy a package 2 weeks ago at full price!!! It just about killed me! But I made up for it with this deal because I got all four boxes for $1.79!

ANOTHER YOPLIAT GO-GURT DEAL WITH COUPON

If your kids love Go-Gurt and you don't have any Shrek coupon booklets, you can still do the following to get it for $1 each instead of $.40 each. Still not a bad deal.

Yoplait Go-Gurt 2 for $2.79 on advantage buy
Go HERE to get the $.80 off 2.

My granddaughter, Kylie, doesn't like yogurt, but she LOVES Go-Gurt! Just give it to her frozen and she thinks it is a popsicle! Aren't we sneaky!!!

UPDATE: I WAS IN THE PUBLIX AT THE BEACH TODAY, SUNDAY, 5/16, AND THEY HAD A TON OF SHREK BOOKLETS IN A CARDBOARD HOLDER BY THE DOOR. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK BOTH ENTRANCES FOR THE BOOKS TO GET THE GO-GURT FOR $.40 EACH!!

A READERS QUESTION ANSWERED

I received an e-mail from Christy who saw my May 11th post and had a few questions. I thought it was a great question and wanted to share the answer with everyone!!

Christy asked...When there is a target coupon that starts with a 9 on the bar code, will Publix consider this as a competitor or manufacturer coupon?

And my last question is how in the heck do you save so much money on your groceries? I saw your May 11th shopping trip that you spent less than $7.00 on grocery items...how are you doing this? Do you stack coupons on each item? Although I am doing very well with my savings, I can't seem to get it down as well as you have it. Once I find a competitor or store coupon to stack with mine, the item is either not Bogo anymore or once they are, the coupon has expired. What is your trick? Do you buy coupons online?

Any help you can offer will be much appreciated!

Here is my answer to Christy:

First of all, Publix will consider the coupon you mentioned a manufacturers coupon because it starts with a 5 or a 9. I did not purchase any of these coupons on-line although I do buy some every now and then.

Here is the breakdown of my purchases:

The Oscar Mayer were 2/$6. I used 2- $1.00 publix coupons (may not available anymore but check on the publix website under coupons) and a $2/1 blinkie, Final cost $1.50 each.

Yoplait yogurt are on adv. buy for 2 for $2.79. I used 2-$1.00 Q's from the Shrek coupon booklet found in front of the store over 1 month ago. The final cost on these were $.40 each.

The Fusion Snack mix were all FREE. There is a coupon right now on www.smartsource.com for $1 off any 4 oz. or larger Fisher product. They are on adv. buy for 2 for $2, so FREE!! There are 2 different coupons to print so you could print 4 per computer!! That means 4 FREE Fusion Snack Mix. They are in the isle with the applesauce. I had a hard time finding them.

I had a $1 Q for McCormick Spice and it was marked down to $1 so it was FREE.
The Dove was BOGO and I had a CRT from CVS for $2 off so I paid $2.29 for both chocolate.

The Suave was $1.25 each and I believe I had 2-$.55 Publix coupons from one of the books and then 2-$.50 MQ's to make them $.40 for both.

PF Oatmeal bread was on sale for $2.00 and I had a $.55 MQ.

The Oil of Olay were FREE when you used the $2 -5/2 PG coupon and stacked it with a $2 coupon from the green adv. flyer (Publix Q).

I also bought a $50 gas card for $40, making my above grocery purchases under $7!!

I hope this helps everyone who often wonders how I get my bill so LOW! If you recently attended a class, keep at it! Like I told Christy, you will always save money and as time goes on, you will get better!!

NIVEA DEAL AT CVS

I was talking to my friend Michelle a few days ago and she asked me if I had the $4 Nivea Coupon everyone was talking about. Unfortunately, we did not get that coupon because it was regional. I told her I wasn't going to do the Nivea Body Wash deal because I didn't want to spend even $1 for a bottle of body wash!! But I thought about it and decided to do this deal at CVS. It involves using the coupons from the ALL YOU Magazine. Those of you who took the class heard me talk about this magazine!!

Buy $15 worth of Nivea products, get back $5 ECB (Limit 1)

Buy:
2 Nivea body wash – $4.88 (price may vary slightly)**
2 Nivea lip care – $2.99

Use:
BOGO Nivea body wash coupon from May 2010 All You magazine
BOGO Nivea lip care coupon from May 2010 All You magazine
$2/1 body wash coupon from May 2010 All You magazine

*You will pay $5.87 out of pocket and get back $5 ECB. That’s like paying only $.87 total for all 4 products! I figure it will let me roll my ECB's because I will use my $5 ECB to pay and it will give me another with a later date.

**If the price is too much higher, I won't do this deal. You can also go to Target and do the deal on the body wash and pay only $1 for each bottle.

Tip #7 : Everyone should use coupons…pair those coupons with sales!
Tip #8 : Get organized and shop the sales only!
Tip #9 : Learn how to shop at Walgreens & CVS
Tip #10: Start building a stockpile of things you buy cheap or get FREE!

Try to find a dollar amount you feel comfortable with and stick to it. Before couponing, I did not have any budget. Now I spend between $30 and $65 per week for my grocery and drugstore purchases.

Always buy at least 2 papers. If I find an awesome sale when it is BOGO, I want to use 2 coupons to get the maximum savings.

The first thing everyone does is clip the coupons they think they will use and throw out the rest of the insert. I can't tell you how many deals I get by doing this other method which is very simple. Now my shopping list is done on Monday for the following weeks ad complete with all the coupon match-ups for the weeks ad.

Learn what stores have their own coupons that you can use with manufacturer coupons to maximize your savings.

BOGOF sales are great to pair with coupons. When you do this, you will be buying that item at the absolute lowest price. When you start building your stockpile, you won't have to buy those items again at "retail".

Shop with a list and stick to it.

Keep your stockpile organized so you know what you have in stock. When you see a good deal, buy a few extra and donate it to a family, organization or church.

Use the drugstores to buy items that your family uses everyday using their reward systems. The savings are unbelievable! Once you start rolling, you will be putting very little out-of-pocket and coming home with shampoo, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste, dental floss, razors, etc. and never have to go to Walmart again!

When people tell me they don't have time to coupon, then they don't know how to use this method to their advantage. Learn this method to maximize your savings and have fun doing it!
