PUBLIX 2/25/11, SPENT $19.49, SAVED 86%

It's another good week at Publix!!! I ordered cereal, Uncle Ben's and Pam coupons, so I figured I'd better use the cereal coupons I already had so I didn't look like a crazy woman with a cartful full of cereal. I plan on going in again to get my canned vegetables, Pam, rice, cereal and more chicken. Stock up on chicken quarters at $.69 per lb. I have a great recipe for chicken with diced tomatoes, capers and a little orange juice. What a perfect meal to use our stock of diced tomatoes and our orange juice from the Minute Maid BOGO coupon!

I now have enough diced/crushed tomatoes and beans to last me a full year! Woopie!!! I won't be putting those on my list for a long time!

CHEAP SUAVE SHAMPOO

Does your Publix take an expired Publix store coupon? Then use the $.55/1 from the Personal Concierge Book and pay only $.54 for shampoo. This shampoo is perfect for my husbands "full" head of hair. I also use it to clean all my make-up brushes! Why use the expensive stuff when this works just as well!

My family LOVES grapes! I know my daughter puts a dent on them as soon as they go in the refrigerator. Food Lion has grapes on sale for $.99 per lb. this week. If you find yourself driving by a Food Lion and you have a few minutes to spare, go in and get your grapes at a great price this week. I will be stopping by sometime before the ad ends to get mine!

ORGANIZING THE STOCKPILE!

With all the heavy cans from this week, I was forced to remove all of them from my tall grey shelf because the shelf looked like it could collaspe any day! So my wise husband suggested I move lighter things on that shelf. It sure looks empty now! What you can't see is the bottom shelf which is completly full of Motts Medley Juice, V-8 Juice and Uncle Ben's Rice. You also can't see all my laundry detergent and cleaning supplies hidden into every crevice of my other tall shelf. My cleaning supplies go all the way to the back of the shelf, some put in front of the other. My stock of storage/freezer/sandwich bags also goes two deep on the shelf. I also didn't take a picture to the right of the shelf where I have all my paper plates, napkins, cups, and more juicy juice! Also not visable are my 20 boxes of Trash Bags! I don't know where the trash comes from in this house, but we certainly do produce a lot of it! Knowing I am not spending $6.59 on a box of trash bags makes me sleep better at night!

Once you get a stockpile, you know you will never have to pay full retail price for an item again. Knowing I paid $.25 or less for canned vegetables, beans, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, bread crumbs, Pam, salad dressing, BBQ sauce, canned tomatoes, crackers, etc., makes me happy! :) ...and my wallet too!

PUBLIX 2/23/11, SPENT $2.59, SAVED 93%

I am LOVING this Italian Sale!! I stopped at another Publix before this trip and did 2 transactions of the canned tomatoes, beans, chicken broth, etc. I bought a few other things including two $4.49 containers worth of parmasean cheese, Bertoli Pasta Sauce, Babybel Cheese (this was $3.99), etc. and 12 cans tomatoes, 16 cans beans, 8 vegetables, 4 broth, etc. and paid a little over $8. I don't know how, but between the store and home I lost the receipt!

I went over to the SR 16 Publix to get my Sargento cheese and free eggs deal and a few more italian day deals only to find them sold out of beans! But I did manage to spend $2.59 and get the following:

10 boxes Green Giant frozen Vegetables
10 boxes Juicy Juice (used RC and FLIP)
Pkg. Hormel Pepperoni
2 Buittoni Fettucini
4 Scrubbing Bubbles
4 Sundown Vitamins
2 Sominez
2 Vivarin
Excedrin PM
3 doz. eggs
6 Sargento Cheese
2 Bertoli Pasta Sauce
2 Dentyne
Mini Babybel (my daughter loves these and they sell for $3.99 alone)

I walked out to the car, loaded in all my groceries, and realized I left my envelope in the car with my other Bertoli coupons my friend Michelle gave me. So I ran back into the store and picked up 10 bottles Bertoli pasta sauce using the competitor and MQ and paid only $1.45 for all 10! Sorry, I didn't take a picture of the rest of the stuff. I was too tired and just wanted to get it all put away!!

Total spent for the haul of stuff I bought today was just over $12!!! Could you believe I had a pie crust on my list and I forgot it! With all the cheese and eggs, I want to make a quiche for dinner!!

After I get myself organized, I am going to make some bags for homeless people in Ponte Vedra that my brother has befriended. Looks like they will be eating a lot of pasta and beans!

MY WALGREENS SCENERIO 2/21/11

Unfortunately, I don't see much this week for me at Walgreens, but my daughter can always use Tampons. I probably have 15 boxes already, but I know she is going to use them!! I am starting with a $6 and a $4 RR. I will buy two boxes of tampons in two separate transactions and also buy a newspaper with one of them. My total OOP for both transactions (before tax) will be $1.25 and I will get back two $5 RR's.

Hopefully Walgreens will have a better ad next week!

PUBLIX 2/20/11, SPENT $2.35, SAVED 96%

Do you notice anything wrong with this picture? I loaded everything on my counter for the picture and I had an uneven number cans of Hunts Tomatoes! I only meant to grab 6 and somehow 7 ended up in my cart. Could have been when I accidently knocked a can of vegetables off the shelf and a little 10 year old girl was standing there and I missed her foot by 2 inches! And of course she was wearing sandles! That would have hurt. That means my total should have been $.96!! This was an awesome trip!!

Holy Moley! Aren't you just loving this Italian Days Sale?? I had to go back and get more beans to add to my stock. These don't expire until 2013!! This is what I got:

2 Egg Beaters
2 Dentyne Ice Gum
4 Sargento Cheddar Cheese
Mini Babybel Cheese
4 Advil
Bananas Strawberries
Sweet Onion
8 cans beans
7 cans Hunts Tomatoes (OOPS!)
8 cans Green Giant Vegetables
Rye Bread
Hunk of Mozzarella Cheese
2 dozen eggs

I was able to use the $5 off $25 DG coupon, two $1 WD coupons and a $5/30 along with my Publix and competitor coupons. I will be going back again!!

UPDATE: I HAVE ALREADY GONE BACK AND SPENT $2.16 TO GET MORE TOMATOES, BEANS AND VEGGIES. STOCK KUP NOW BECAUSE COUPON POLICIES ARE GETTING READY TO CHANGE!

NUTRO MAX DOG FOOD AT PET SMART

My dog uses Nutro Max Mini Chunk Dog Food. I buy the largest bag there is 35 lbs. This bag usually sells for $38. They are on sale for $8 off and there is a coupon in the 1/23 RP for $4 that will works with the sale. The coupon is not specific to any Nutro brand and they said they would try it and it scanned! I saved $12 off my bag of dog food.

If you need dog food and use this brand, head over there with your coupon in hand to get a great savings!

MY ITALIAN DAYS SCENERIO

I will be going back to the store again this week to get some more Italian Days Deals. I have already bought the bread crumbs, tomatoes, chicken broth, and frozen veggies. This is my next Italian Days Deal:

PUBLIX 2/17/11, SPENT $19.66, SAVED 80%

Boy, am I glad this week was better than last week! Unfortunately, I did not need some of the items that are really good deals. I used a raincheck for the Athenos Feta and was glad to stock up on more chicken broth and canned tomatoes. This is what I bought:

4 GG frozen vegetables
6 Hunts Tomatoes
4 Progresso Bread Crumbs
4 Wishbone Italian
1 Sorrento Ricotta
1 Sorrento Mozz
2 Lipton Tea Bags
1 Cantelope
Strawberries
Lettuce
Cheerios
Publix Bread
2 Sorrento Cheddar Cheese
1 lb. deli cheese (this was $6.75)
1/2 lb. Boars Head Turkey (this was $3.72

The last two deli items alone totaled $10.47, more than half of my total. That means I paid $9.19 for all the other items. Take the time now during this sale to stock up on all your progresso items. This progresso sale only comes once a year!

I was in a hurry today to get out of the store. I plan on going back before the sale ends on Wed. and pick up a few more items, especially the Advil!!

ADVIL DEAL

Don't forget now is the time to stock up on FREE Advil. It is currently priced at $4.49 each. When you use the $2/1 MQ here and stack with the $5/2 from the green adv. flyer, you get FREE ADVIL!!

Who doesn't love FREE advil!

STEWART'S WEEKLY AD

Stewart's ad looks pretty good this week with the boneless skinless chicken breasts, strawberries and onions. Lettuce at the grocery store is $1.99 a bunch so $1.50 for hydroponic lettuce is a good buy.

Fresh, never frozen Boneless Chicken Breasts,
5 lbs. or more, $1.99 lb.

Thursday through Saturday ONLY!

New Crop Plant City Strawberries, this weekend!

Claw Crab Meat, 1 lb. can, $6.99

3 lb. bag Onions, $1.50 each

FOOD LION BONE-IN CHICKEN BREASTS STOCK-UP PRICE

Food Lion has Bone-In Chicken Breasts on sale for $.99 per lb. That is a good price if you like them with the bone in. I personally think they are more flavorful than boneless skinless. I picked up 3 packages to stock in my freezer and a 5 lb. bag of navel oranges for $3.99. That brings my grocery purchases for the month so far to $90.70. That includes toilet paper, trash bags, etc. as well as my grocery items.

Also, there was a coupon for a BOGO coupon for Snickers in the 1/23/11 RP. Pair that with the BOGO sale at Food Lion and get the Peanut Butter Snickers Bars for FREE. I left my coupon in the car so I missed out! Maybe I will go back to get more chicken and get it then.

Starting Saturday, a coupon for $5/2 will be in the Green Advantage Flyer for Advil. Stack that with the $2/1 coupon found here and get a great deal on Advil. Since I already have plenty of Advil in stock, I will be getting some Children's Advil to have on hand for the grandkids!!

HEADS UP...$5 OFF $50 SPOTTED

Heads up guys!! Look on the front page of the Red Plum in todays mail and make sure you cut out the $5 off $50 coupon for Publix!!

WALMART ACCEPTING COMPETITOR COUPONS

Are any of you intrigued by Walmart's claim to accept competitor coupons? Well, my good friend and fellow couponer Bev was so she ventured into Walmart with a small handful of coupons...and when I say small, I mean small! She only bought 16 items and she said it wasn't worth it at all! The advice she has is if you plan on going make sure you take plenty of advil with you! She tried Walmart once with their competitor coupon policy and vowed not to go back. She decided to give them another try and has now said she won't go back. She even made a point of going up and speaking to a manager before she left! They do not take off the coupons at the end like Publix and Winn Dixie do. They take it off the item itself. If you have a $1/2 competitor q, they would take it off $.50 off each item. Her receipt looked like she should have had a cartful of groceries instead of 16 items. Dealing with Walmart and coupons has always been a nightmare and now I can't imagine throwing competitor coupons in the mix. If any of you try to do this, I would recommend only using a few coupons (knowing who you are dealing with)!! I myself won't be going into Walmart any time soon. When I venture in, I will keep you posted and let you know how it goes.

If any of you go in Walmart and try to use competitor coupons, please let me know so I can share it with everyone!

PUBLIX 2/15/11, SPENT $11.62, SAVED 82%

Did anyone else have a problem finding any buys in this ad? There was nothing I really wanted except the pork roast I am looking forward to making! Put that baby in the crock pot or in the oven in a "Bag-n-Season" bag and dinner will be done! I couldn't resist the temptation to buy two more Hefty Trash Bags at $2.45 each and add them to my 17 boxes I already have. I bought the last two boxes on the shelf, so I was able to get a raincheck. This is what I bought:

2 Minute Maid OJ (used BOGO Q)
4 Zatarain Jambalaya
Baby Carrots
Pork Roast
2 Sominex (see below)
2 Vivarin (used $5/2 and two $2/2 for overage)
2 Hefty Trash Bags
2 U Kotex
Onions

Total spent $11.62. The total before coupons was over $55.00

CVS 2/13/11, SPENT$4.38

I had some ECB's to roll so I did this in 4 transactions. I was excited to see the Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste because this is what I buy for my husband. Anytime I can get it I stock up on it. This is what I bought:

3 Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste
1 Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste
2 Listerine Zero
Newspaper
1 Heath Bar

TOTAL SPENT WITH TAX: $4.38
GOT BACK $15.16 ECB's

For less than the price of the newspaper and 1 toothpaste I got all the above and have over $15 in ECB's to roll into the following weeks.

The new guy from photo was running the register and he didn't adjust my ECB down so it was just easier to buy something (heath bar...yum, it's already gone!) or my OOP would have been just under $1 less!

WALGREENS 2/27, SPENT $1.11

I was in a real rush when I ran into Walgreens today. All I did is one transaction because I bought the last two Motrin PM on the shelf. I bought 2 Motrin PM, Naso-Gel and a newspaper for $1.11 and got back a $5 and a $3 RR. I will go back later in the week to finish my transactions. Darn if I looked all over that store for the Aquafor and could not find it. I am not a fan of the manager of the beach store, so I decided to wait until they restocked the Motrin or go to another store! Anyway, I will take FREE Motrin anyday.

WALGREENS 2/12/11, SPENT $4.16

I was so excited to see black olives on sale at Walgreens this week for $.99. I only had one can left and that sets you into panic mode :)!!

I did the following in three transactions, having to change up my scenerio because my store was out of hand sanitizer. I started out with a $2 and a $3 RR. This is what I bought:

1st Transaction:

Right Guard Body Wash
2 Lindsay Olives
TOTAL DUE $1.21 (had to pay $1 more OOP because I substituted this for sanitizer)
GOT BACK $4 RR

2nd Transaction:

Arnicare Gel
1 Lindsay Olive
TOTAL DUE: $1.98
GOT BACK $6 RR

3rd Transaction:

Neuragen PN
2 Lindsay Olives
TOTAL DUE: $.97
GOT BACK $10 RR

I still have 2 more transactions to do but this store was out of Arnicare Gel. My total OOP was $4.16 and I still have $10 in RR's. Remember, I would have spent $5 for the olives alone which is what I really needed!! If I can get to another Walgreens tonight, I will do my last 2 transactions and post those later!

4th transaction:
1 Arnicare Gel
1 Hand Sanitizer
1 doz. eggs
1 gal distilled water
TOTAL DUE: $.40
GOT BACK $6 & $4 RR TO ROLL INTO NEXT WEEK

I decided to end it there instead of going two more transactions. Watc h for my CVS deals this next week. I am stocking up on 4 sensitive toothpaste and 2Listerine Zero for $.29 OOP and getting back over $15 in ECB's!!

WINN DIXIE 2/7/11, SPENT $0

Sorry, there is no picture here because the bags are all still in the back of my car! I still haven't got them out and may not until tomorrow! Winn Dixie had Classico Spaghetti and Alfredo Sauce BOGO. Enter my daughter who had numerous coupons for Buy a White Sauce, get a Red Sauce for FREE! So, my daughter and I ran into the Palm Coast WD and filled our cart with 36 jars of spaghetti and alfredo sauce! No, we didn't do it at all at once! We did it in 2 trips to the register. The first time around we threw in some grapes at $1.29 per lb. for good measure! When I checked my receipt when I got in the car I realized that she didn't take off one of the coupons so we ended up paying $2.99 for 20 jars! Still not bad...at least the other 16 jars were free! We will each end up with 6 jars of Classico Spaghetti Sauce and 6 jars of Alfredo Sauce!

PUBLIX 2/5/11, SPENT $27.63, SAVED 82%

Holy Moley! I spent $27!! How in the heck did that happen? Well, the Tostitos were an impulse buy. What in the heck did I need 2 bags of these for? All the commercials for the superbowl were playing in my head (even though I could care less about the game and couldn't even begin to tell you who was playing) and I wanted to whip up some good Superbowl snacks. Enter in my husband who stepped up and made the most awesome wings and sausages wrapped in crescent rolls! That let me off the hook and now 2 bags of chips (and $7 later) are waiting for the next party! This is what I bought for $27:

2 Thomas' English Muffins
2 Tostitos Scoops
2 Wheat Thins
2 Motts Apple Juice
6 Hormel Chili (save this for Mexican dip!)
2 Laughing Cow Cheese (to put on the english muffins!)
4 Kraft Velveeta Cheese (can you say constipation??)
4 Shredded Cheese
1 Cottonelle Toilet Tissue
2 Breakstone Sour Cream
6 Muir Glen Tomato Sauce
4 Sundown Vitamins
Blueberries
Cantelope
3 Avacados
2 Aleve
18 Ro-Tel Tomatoes
More Cheese
Bananas
Romaine Lettuce
2 U-Kotex

I get nervous when my supply of cheese gets below the limit of I can't fit it all in my inside refrigerator! Time to stock up on more when you can get it for under $.90 each! I'm good for the next 10 mexican dips although I would love to see olives go on sale again soon!! Please Walgreens, hear my plea and run them again so I can stock up! We are an olive eating family!

RUMORS ON THE BLOGS

I was on a blog at Hot Coupon World tonight and I found this in the blog:

Was talking to someone who works at customer service and she told me that they are coming up with a new coupon policy. Seems there have several complaints about differences between the stores and they are attempting to make it more uniform.

Here is what I gathered from our conversation:
1. No more Target coupons
2. No more BJ coupons
3. Will only be able to use one coupon on a BOGO; their reasoning is why
get xx off on a "free item". I asked more about that and that is what it
sounded like.

She was sharing some experiences that her store has had with some coupon users (the ones that give everyone else a black eye). She cited specifics examples of out and out abuse (in my opinion more like fraud).

Just relating what she told me, take for what its worth.

BTW this store is in Central Florida (Poinciana

It will be a sad day if they do not take 2 coupons on a BOGO. I also will be shopping at Target more if they will no longer accept them as a competitor. Why would I use it at Publix if I can stack it with a MQ at Target? I hope all of us couponers get together and voice our opinion when the new policy comes out.

EXCEDRIN DEAL AT WAGS

PUBLIX 2/3/11, SPENT $9.64, SAVED 83%

I ran back into Publix today to get some Tofu. Yes, I said Tofu, two of them to be exact! I bought these for my daughter and I plan on dousing it with soy sauce to give it some flavor. She loves it! I, on the other hand, have no desire to eat any! The only place I have had Tofu and liked it was at Mama Fu's in Mandarin. Believe me...if I knew it was in there I would have pushed it all to the side. But when you cook it with other things it takes on that flavor. This is where the soy sauce comes in. I'll let you know how it went! This is what I bought:

2 Extra Firm Tofu
4 Flintstone Gummie Vitamins (these sell for $6.99 each, use MQ and $5/2 PQ
2 Pace Salsa
2 U Kotex Tampons
2 English Muffins

I will head back to the store before the end of the sale to get my lunchmeat and produce and stock up on Ro-Tel!

PUBLIX 2/1/11, SPENT $8.35, SAVED 93%

Today's shopping trip begins the month of February and I have spent $8.35 so far! Coffee, glad trash bags, and spaghetti sauce were my favorites this week. I had a raincheck for the Ragu and I did the Buy Theirs, Get Ours Free with it. I asked the manager and they said I could get as many as I wanted...so I did! Twelve bottles in all! This is what I got:

4 Glad Trash Bags
4 Glad Freezer Bags
Mueller Jumbo Shells
4 8 O'Clock Coffee (also got raincheck)
2 Doritos
Fresh Asparagus
Strawberries
6 Ragu
6 Publix Sauce
2 Dove Deodorant
7 8-Pk. Juicy Juice
1 Capri Sun (given as substitution for Juicy Juice)

My stash of trash bags now is going to take me through the rest of the year. Since my family uses a lot of trash bags, I am excited that I don't have to buy them. Holy Moley, I also have a great stash of spaghetti sauce when I feel like I don't want to cook. Add some sausage, a can of diced tomatoes (stocked on those also!) and spices, and I am good to go!

MONTHLY TOTAL FOR JANUARY

I made the decision to track my grocery and drugstore spending. I totalled my receipts for January and my total was $144.79. That is $36.20 per week! I was pleased with that dollar amount considering I used to spend $144.79 in one week before coupons and not have nearly all the stuff I have now!

My drugstore OOP for the month of January was $9.44 and my shelves are full with stuff!

What about you? How are you doing with your grocery spending? Leave a comment and let us know.
